Hoy! Empiezan los VERANOS DE LA VILLA!!! Hemos desarrollado el proyecto estratégico para hacer de los Veranos de la Villa un festival distribuido. Como en las tres pasadas ediciones, las actividades de los VdV se desplegarán por los 21 distritos de la Villa de Madrid. El festival circulará por la ciudad, invitando a los/as madrileños/as a recorrer y explorar diferentes espacios públicos de la geografía madrileña. "Ha sido imprescindible contar con la oficina de arquitectura Elii y el iluminador Maxi Gilbert. Al principio íbamos como topos, mirábamos los mapas de la ciudad una y otra vez, pero había que salir a patear para conocerlos realmente. Ahora las distancias han cambiado para mí. La idea que tenemos es dotar de nuevo significado a espacios que muchas veces pasan inadvertidos y transformarlos en lugares de intimidad y encuentro. Por un lado queríamos enseñárselos a todos los madrileños y, por otro, fomentar un sentimiento de pertenencia entre los vecinos del distrito. El viernes 21/06, el Instituto Mutante de Narrativas Ambientales acoge el Taller Comunicador Inter-especial I. La predicción de la gallineta común y el vencejo, de Fito Conesa. * 18.30 – 20h [Taller para adultos] Una narración mutante sobre cómo se comunican entre ellas las diferentes especies. El artista Fito Conesa, partiendo de estudios científicos específicos y del uso de relatos de ficción, propone imaginar una situación de crisis medioambiental en el entorno de Matadero y averiguar cómo se podría transmitir un mensaje de alerta en cadena entre seres de diferentes especies. ECOVISIONARIES>e-flux!

Initiated in 2018 as a joint project appearing across four institutions—MAAT (Lisbon), Bildmuseet (Umeå), HeK (Basel) and LABoral (Gijón), in collaboration with Royal Academy (London)—Eco-Visionaries has a new presentation at Matadero Madrid, with an expanded selection of projects and artworks that highlight the future of interspecies relationships. Avoiding a narrow emphasis on climate change, Eco-Visionaries is a manifesto-exhibition focusing on the impacts of rapidly changing ecological conditions. Global warming, extreme weather events, rising sea-levels, drought in one location while another gets flooded, are some of the ways in which this shift is felt on a day-to-day basis. These natural phenomena join environmental crises produced by the depletion of resources, the continued use of fossil fuels, the impacts of mass-consumption, and varied forms of contamination, including plastic-ridden oceans and a declining biodiversity. Together, these phenomena are increasingly recognised as the expression of a new geological era marked by human action, which many now call the Anthropocene. In face of this condition, what new conceptions and systems of thought might a rising ecological awareness inspire?
