EVERYDAY LIFE INVENTS ITSELF

elii is an architecture office, founded in Madrid in 2006 by Uriel Fogué, Eva Gil and Carlos Palacios. Their professional practice also includes the fields of teaching (Columbia University in the City of New York, GSAPP; École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, EPFL; Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid, ETSAM; Universidad Europea de Madrid, UEM) and research. Elii has been part of the Spanish Pavilion during the 18th (2023) and the 15th Venice Biennial of Architecture (2016, awarded with the Golden Lion). Two of their works have been selected for the European Union Prize For Contemporary Architecture - the Mies Van Der Rohe Award (2015, 2019). They have obtained the First Prize of the College of Architects of Madrid (2017); and they have also won the COAM Prize on five occasions (2018, 2016, 2013, 2011, 2006). They recently won the prestigious Golden Prize Holcim Awards 2023 (together with Husos and Ultrazul, sponsored by the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation). Their work Yojigen Poketto was selected as one of the 20 visionary domestic spaces of the last 100 years in the exhibition 'Home Stories 100 Years, 20 Visionary Interiors', at the Vitra Design Museum, Weil am Rhein (2020). They are the authors of the book: 'Super Petites Maisons' (EPFL, 2022), 'Beyond The Limits' (CentroCentro, 2020), 'What is Home Without a Mother' (HIAP – Matadero Madrid, 2015), which won an award at the 13th Biennial of Spanish Architecture and Urbanism in 2015, and they are the co-editors of UHF, a publication included in the Creators Archive of Madrid. They have lectured and taken part in reviews in many international universities and institutions.
